Obituary for Irma J. Malasnik

Irma J.  Malasnik
Irma Malasnik, at the age of 91, peacefully passed away in Happy Valley, Oregon on March 3, 2018 where she lived with her daughter Ann M. Casterlin for the last 4 years. For most of her adult life she lived in Palmer Township, Easton, PA. She was born in St. John, North Dakota and was the daughter of Lemuel and Cecilia Carpenter. Following the death of her mother she moved with her sister Eleanor to Easton, PA in 1936 to live with two of their aunts.

She was a graduate of Easton High School in 1945 and proceeded to Nursing School at Easton Hospital School of Nursing graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1948. She retired from her long nursing career in 1991 with the most of her career at Easton Hospital. She is preceded in death by her late husband Charles J. Malasink Sr., her daughter Jane L. Reese of Allentown and son Charles J. Malasnik Jr of Easton, PA.

Survivors include daughter Ann M. Casterlin and her husband James F. Casterlin, sisters Eleanor Dicker of Easton, PA and Lois Rybachek of Rice Lake, WI and a brother Conrad Carpenter of Forest Lake, MN. Irma’s extended family included 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Dewire, Craig Cressman, Angelo Reese (deceased), Tanya Pratt and Natasha Malasnik along with 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Greenpond Rd., Easton PA. A reception for family and friends will follow at Stefano’s Restaurant, 2970 Linden St., Bethlehem, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the James Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
